[윌리엄 원덤 경에게 보내는 편지] 볼링부룩은 앤 여왕이 서거하고 조지 1세가 등극하자 프랑스로 망명하여 왕위주장자인 제임스 스튜어드를 지지했으나 나중에는 그로부터 배척받았다. 윈덤에게 보낸 이 장문의 편지는 영국 토리당 동료들에게 자기의 행동을 정당화하기 위해서 쓴 글이다. 이 책에는 편지 이외에도 "국가의 현재 상태에 대한 명상"과 "포프씨에게 보내는 서한"이 함께 들어 있다. [서울대학교 중앙도서관 귀중도서전(1996)]
